I was asked by blog mate Jocelyn at Our Collective Muse to help her bring her upcoming dinner party to the next level. She wasn’t able to get away on a winter holiday this past year and so decided to invest in hosting an amazing dinner party to celebrate with some close friends. You can read a recap on Joc’s version of the night here. I’m going to give you a little insight into how this dinner party came together from a design standpoint.

My inspiration was quite dark as I was designing when it was winter and was naturally drawn to dark moody colours. Since the party was in April, it made sense to freshen the inspiration up with some fresh greens and tulips. Thank you Michelle’s Flowers for supplying us with the most beautiful blooms! Initially, our inspiration had moss under the acrylic menus, but if you watched my insta story, you found out with me that it just wasn’t practical. The moss was shedding and it was way too messy for my bright and white spring table.

I deconstructed a centrepiece and used the greens under the acrylic menu which was actually really cute.

I would have loved to have an arrangement on the table as our centrepiece, but I knew that Wes from Canoe Oyster was planning on doing some family style dishes and of course multiple bottles of wine, so I opted for a simple green runner for the round table. This is still a trend that we are seeing this year and I’m not mad about it 🙂

A simple white linen was used to showcase the beautiful handwritten calligraphy table runner, gold foiled oyster shell place cards and handwritten acrylic menus from Paper Ocelot. I always tell my clients that stationery, to me, makes the decor of a wedding. It brings everything together. I am SO happy this new vendor is now in Saskatoon!

I’ve used gold cutlery for photoshoots from Handy Special Events before, but now they are renting it! I’m so thrilled. Who doesn’t want to eat from gold!? The gold accents finishes off this beautiful table setting along with their amazing wooden cross back chairs!

I love how Jocelyn invited friends who hadn’t met before (but I actually did know a few people!! Saskatoon is so small…). It was great to visit with new friends and enjoy an amazing meal. Thank you Joc for bringing us all together!
